Why I’m Running
I’m running for Mayor because I believe Grand Valley needs strong, practical leadership.
Our community has changed, and it will continue to change. The next term should be about making responsible choices, keeping a close eye on how taxpayer dollars are spent, and planning carefully for the next stage of Grand Valley’s growth.
I want to bring a practical, fiscally responsible approach to the Mayor’s chair — one that listens to residents, focuses on results and keeps Grand Valley moving forward while protecting the community values that make this a great place to call home.

Responsible with your tax dollars.
Fiscal accountability starts with asking the right questions about what we provide, how we provide it and how we strengthen our tax base.
Find Efficiencies
Look for smarter, more cost-effective ways to deliver the services residents rely on, while identifying opportunities to reduce unnecessary costs.
Drive Business Growth
Grow our commercial and industrial assessment base so new investment and municipal revenue can help offset pressure on residential taxpayers.
As Mayor, I will work to stabilize tax increases closer to inflation and work to ensure residents get the best return on their tax dollars as possible.
PLANNING FOR MORE GROWTH
Preparing for Grand Valley’s next stage.
Grand Valley has grown and will continue to grow, but the pace of that growth has changed.
During periods of rapid growth, the Town expanded services and made decisions based on expectations for continued development. Housing starts have since slowed, meaning some decisions may have been made ahead of when the community would actually need them.
That doesn’t mean we stop planning. It means we take stock of where we are today, evaluate the services we have, and make sure future investments match the pace and needs of Grand Valley as it continues to grow.
At the same time, we should be ready to pursue responsible business growth that strengthens our local economy and broadens the municipal tax base.

A good Mayor listens to residents and makes sure their needs and concerns are considered when decisions are made.

Focused on the numbers and asking tough questions
I do the homework and ask the tough questions. I read the reports that come to Council and come prepared with questions and discussion points. Recommendations to Council need to be balanced with the Town’s needs.
Getting Council meetings online
As part of the last term, I pushed to have meetings online and video recorded so people can view what Council is discussing. I have been open about my views, consistent in how I vote and prepared to explain the reasoning behind my decisions.
Pushing for public consultation and open houses
I advocated for town halls and public budget meetings and more accessible information, context and communication through email and social media. As Mayor, I will commit to holding a Mayor’s Town Hall and providing a public Mayor’s update after Council meetings.
Working with the businesses already here
As Mayor, I would work collaboratively with local businesses and work to attract new businesses to town.
MY PRIORITIES FOR GRAND VALLEY
Practical priorities for our community.
Support Seniors
Work to attract a long-term care home in our community so seniors have a better chance to remain in Grand Valley.
Support Community-Led Initiatives
Work with volunteers in the community to empower them to lead community-led initiatives that improve the way of life. This would reduce the need for programs paid by tax dollars.
Bring People Together
Create more opportunities for residents to come together through community events and shared spaces.
Improve Parks
Continue to expand and improve parks and playgrounds.
Protect Farmland
As Grand Valley grows, we must protect productive farmland as much as possible and plan responsibly for the future.
Celebrate Volunteers
Establish a yearly volunteer awards ceremony and celebrate the people who give their time to our community.

I have consistently focused on the numbers, fiscal accountability and making sure taxpayer dollars are accounted for and municipal spending can be justified.

Board experience with both AMO and ROMA, representing municipal interests, building relationships and advocating with municipal and provincial leaders.
